she heard echoes from a world,
she had failed to see before

Baa bought the relief 30/35 years ago from a random street seller. It doesn’t have any specific meaning to him. He just bought it very randomly because he liked it and thought Maa would like it too.
The relief is a part of “dhukuti kotha” Maa used to hand it very high up in the wall. I could hardly see all the images clearly. For me, it was a part of Maa’s collection of gods she worshipped daily until Maa clarified to me who in the images were and their specific meaning.
The relief portrayed the story of Rato Machhindranath before it was brought here in Patan and worshipped. Since then I see a lot more than just some figures in it. Maa didn’t just tell me the story but showed why Rato Machhindranath Jatra is so special for us being a local Patan citizen. Every year during the Jatra I remember Maa and her stories and I can clearly visualize the relief in dhukuti kotha as I enjoy the “haste-haistey” as much as she did.
